Vancouver Vikings Summer Swim Club

Vancouver Vikings is a non-profit, parent-run, competitive summer swim club and a member of the British Columbia Summer Swimming Association (BCSSA). The club’s goals are:

  • to introduce young athletes to the environment of competitive swimming,
  • to teach them the skills required for racing, and
  • to encourage each athlete to attain his or her own personal best in a fun and friendly environment.

You have survived Challenge Week – the most demanding week of the year. Swimming Smarter, Not Harder (Coaches’ Corner, July 8, 2019)

We are more than halfway through the season and, at this point, swimmers should be revisiting their goal sheets, adjusting, and refocusing where necessary. The Vikings have developed a strong aerobic base, from which we can now focus on working on speed and race tactics. However, in order to swim faster, we need to swim smarter, not just harder. (more…)
