Vancouver Vikings Summer Swim Club

Vancouver Vikings is a non-profit, parent-run, competitive summer swim club and a member of the British Columbia Summer Swimming Association (BCSSA) swim club. The club’s goals are:

  • to introduce young athletes to the environment of competitive swimming,
  • to teach them the skills required for racing, and
  • to encourage each athlete to attain his or her own personal best achievement in a fun and friendly environment.

Vikings Year End Awards Banquet 2018 – September 22, Save the Date!

Our final social event of the summer season is just about here! It’s your last chance of the 2018 season to share food and fun with our Vikings families, so don’t miss it! This event is also an opportunity to recognize our swimmers’ achievements over the past few months. Full details regarding this evening will be posted soon, but for now, save the date: Saturday September 22, 2018, starting at 5:30 pm at False Creek Community Centre!

After seeing how the Vikings family reacted under pressure at Regionals, I think it is important to give more attention towards some effective ways at managing pre-race stress.  These mixed emotions of excitement, fear, and unrest are normal and pretty typical of every swimmer.
