VOLUNTEERS

A successful swim club depends on the support and involvement of dedicated parent volunteers. Volunteering is an important part of the Vikings community and provides a great opportunity to connect with other families while supporting our swimmers throughout the season. Our volunteer requirements and fees apply to the summer session only. If you have any questions about volunteer roles or requirements, please contact our Club Coordinator

VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS

To ensure volunteer responsibilities are shared fairly, each Vikings family is required to complete a set number of volunteer hours during the summer season.

At registration, families must provide a volunteer fee deposit (see below)*. This deposit is refundable at the end of the season, based on completion of required volunteer hours. Each family (regardless of the number of swimmers) must complete:

        • 17 volunteer hours to receive a full refund of the volunteer deposit
        • these hours are in addition to the mandatory volunteer requirements for the Vikings Invitational Meet, Regionals, and Provincials (outlined below).

VOLUNTEER DEPOSIT & REFUND

      • Deposit per family determined & collected at registration.
      • Each volunteer hour is valued at $17/hr.
      • The volunteer refund are prorated based on hours completed.

*If the advance volunteer deposit presents a financial hardship, families are encouraged to contact the Club Coordinator prior to registration to discuss alternative payment arrangements.

MANDATORY VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS

Vikings Invitational Meet (July):

      • 8 hours per family (typically 4 hours per day).
      • Participation is mandatory for those in attendance of the meet.

Regional & Provincial Championships (August):

      • Participation is mandatory for families with swimmers attending Regionals and/or Provincials meets.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

The Vikings offer a variety of volunteer opportunities, providing something for every interest and schedule.

Club Activities & Events

The Club organizes a range of social events throughout the season. Volunteers are needed both to help organize events and assist with on-site roles such as setup, coordination, and take-down. Volunteer opportunities are communicated regularly by email. Families are encouraged to watch for upcoming requests.

Volunteer Leadership Roles

We are always seeking enthusiastic parents to take on leadership roles within key volunteer areas such as fundraising, social events, and other club initiatives. If you are interested in a leadership position, please contact our Club Coordinator.

Swim Meets

From late May through August, the Vikings participate in swim meets nearly every weekend. These meets offer a variety of volunteer opportunities, including deck timing during races—a simple and enjoyable role suitable for all volunteers.

Additional roles include stroke and turn judge, place judge, and referee. These positions require training, which is provided for interested volunteers.
