SUMMER PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The summer season runs from early May to mid-August, ending with the Provincial Championships. Following a month of training, swimmers begin competing in meets against other BCSSA clubs in June. Meets are hosted by individual clubs and take place within the Vancouver & District Region or in other regions.
COMPETITIONS & CHAMPIONSHIPS
In early August, the five Vancouver & District Region clubs compete at the Regional Meet. Swimmers who qualify at Regionals advance to the Provincial Championships in mid- August.
OCAT PROGRAM
The OCAT program is designed for swimmers who train and compete year-round. Space is limited, and acceptance is at the discretion of the Head Coach and Vikings Executive Board. Eligible swimmers must have been part of the Vikings in the previous summer season.
*OCAT swimmers receive a 50% reduced registration fee, as full participation begins in July. In May and June, swimmers may attend up to two practices per week, helping them get to know their coaches and teammates. From July onward, they may attend all practices and meets. OCAT swimmers are required to attend at least one regular season meet, as well as Regionals and Provincials. This requirement is mandatory, as participation is specific to the OCAT category. OCAT registration opens after the returning swimmer registration period. See registration page for more information.
