Again this summer, we are seeking eager and professional swimmers who would like to gain coaching experience by becoming a Junior Leader. This is a great stepping stone to someday becoming a Vikings Assistant Coach, and possibly even a Group Coach. Interested? Keep reading.
What is a Junior Leader?
Junior Leaders are like assistants to the Assistant Coach. They are expected to attend 1-2 workouts per week and help out where needed. Their tasks may include (but are not limited to): organizing lanes, small technique corrections and starting the swimmers on sets.
When does it happen?
Our Junior Leader program will start Monday June 25th and run every week until Friday August 3rd.
Who can apply to be a Junior Leader?
Anyone is welcome to apply, although our Junior Leader program is targeted primarily towards our Senior swimmers.
Why apply to become a Junior Leader?
Being a Junior Leader is an excellent opportunity to become a mentor for younger swimmers, learn about coaching and improve your understanding of swimming! Junior leading is often used to towards school-required volunteer hours and gives you an opportunity to obtain a reference letter from the coach.
How do you apply?
Swimmers interested in becoming Junior Leaders should send their resume to Coach Erin by clicking here by Friday June 15th at noon.
