Vikings Summer BBQ in the Park
July 6, 2016 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm
We are once again having our awesome annual Summer BBQ at Chaldecott Park!
The club will provide burgers, hot dogs and buns, Vikings parents will potluck the rest, and we’ll all bring the fun!
When: Wednesday, July 6; meeting at 6 pm / eating at ~6:45 pm
Where: Chaldecott Park, near King Edward and Wallace
What: Food and fun!
The burgers/hot dogs will be served at ~6:45 pm, once the 5:30 – 6:30 pm swim groups arrive at the park. We will save food for the MV1’s coming from Byng after 7 pm! The appetizers (being brought by INT 1 who finish at Saints by 5:30) will be available by 6:15 to ward off the “hangries”.
Just like at the Blue & White meet, we ask that all Vikings families bring a food or drink item to share.
We have assigned food / drink based on your childrens’ swim groups, as follows:
|MV2||Drinks – please bring a 1-2 Litre bottle of juice or sparkling water. No individual juice boxes.|
|MV1||Salad / sides|
|INT2||Salad / sides|
|INT1||Appetizers to snack on pre-BBQ, so please bring to park by 6 pm|
|SR1||Drinks – please bring a 1-2 Litre bottle of juice or sparkling water. No individual juice boxes.|
If you have more than one swimmer in the family, please bring food for each swimmer’s group. Please bring items ready to serve on labeled platters or compost-able or recyclable plates.
We will also ask everyone to bring your own reusable utensils, plates and cups as we will NOT be providing these. Please DO NOT BRING disposable plates, cups, or cutlery. The Vikings have gone GREEN!
Because it takes a village, we also rely on our parents to bring party “equipment” to the park. Here’s what we need:
-3 or 4 BBQs
-3 or 4 tables
-2 large coolers with ice
If you can contribute any of the above, please email our Social Coordinator Eileen by clicking here.
The BBQ is also another opportunity to get some volunteer hours in at a VIK social event. Here’s what we need:
-5 people for set up & buffet organization/monitoring (5:00-7:30)
-4 people to cook (any time after 5:30 )
-2 people to monitor waste (6:30 – end)
-4 people for clean up (after event)
