Registration for Fall 2020 Opens September 12 for Groups 1 to 4

Hey VIKs,

It’s happening!

Registration for Groups 1 to 4 ONLY for the fall session of Vikings Winter Maintenance opens this Saturday Sept 12 at 9 am and closes on Saturday Sept 19 at 5 pm. The first practice will be on Wednesday September 23. (Registration for Groups 5 and 6 will happen shortly.)

Here are all the details.

1. Group Lists

We have organized our swimmers into 6 groups, based on the swimmers who registered for Summer 2020. Registration will occur by group. Existing VIKs should check their email for details on which group their swimmers are in. Only swimmers who registered for our 2020 summer season may register for our fall session.

2. Registration

Some important reminders re registration:

  • Registration for Groups 1 to 4 opens on Saturday Sept 12 at 9 am. Registration for Groups 5 and 6 will happen once we can confirm their practice times.
  • You must complete the online waiver found here on our website BEFORE you register.
  • Registration will occur using Active.com, through our website here.
  • Registration will be done based on which training group your child is in. If your child is in Group 1, there will be only two practice options. If that time works for your family, you can try to register through Active. If you are in Groups 1 – 4, you must register and pay for the 2 practices per week; there will not be an option to just register for 1 weekly practice.
  • You must sign the Parent Participation Agreement which includes a commitment to fulfill mandatory volunteering assignments at practices. This agreement will be part of the Active.com registration process.
  • Registration will be first come, first served, with each group limited to 18 swimmers for Groups 1 to 4 and 12 swimmers for Groups 5 and 6. We will create a waitlist for those not able to register their child.
  • You will need to familiarize yourself with our Return to Sport Plan for each pool facility that your child is swimming at. Each plan is slightly different, depending on the particular pool’s rules and protocols. These plans will be posted on our website here as they are finalized and updated periodically.

New Swimmer Assessments POSTPONED until Further Notice

Sadly, the Vikings have made the difficult decision to POSTPONE our new swimmer assessments (previously scheduled for April 5 / 19) for the 2020 summer swim season until further notice. Online registration for these assessments has also been postponed.

We will continue to monitor the spread and impacts of COVID-19 and make decisions based on the health, safety and well-being of our Vikings family and the Vancouver community in general.

We are thinking of all of you and hoping you are safe, healthy and well.
